Half-Life 2 beta ???

My friend says that he has Half-life 2 and he's gonna show me the game tommorow. WTF is he talking about, the game isn't out in the store. He says it's the beta version? he didn't say much after he had to go!

Do you guys know what he's talking about?

It's a leak that was released in March of 2003.

I'll admit I've played it. It's not that great. Half the maps crash the game, the others have major problems; a lot of sounds are missing and there is no coherence (no AI, no scripts are in place.)

Spawning a buggy and driving around the big maps is fun for a few minutes, though.

my friend says the game is the Anon FIXED! version of the game and it includes patchs and user guide.

1. There was no patch, it was a worthless pile of code already included in the leaked beta, read the infos and see it for yourself.
2. The leak occoured early September, 2003.
3. The engine-free almost-full version is already downloadable with a HL2 coupon.
4. The final, full version is not out on P2P, the development (engine) is not even completed yet.

I saw the game, bugs are all over the place. The monster don't even attack you, but you can shot them.
We played a beach map it was called d2_coast_02, the water looks amazing! Just like waht viivo sayed the game as no Al, no scripts the only way to play the game is to create a server then choose a map.
Oh well, I saw a preview of HL2 it was fun for a couple of minutes!
