Anyone know if HL2 will run in OpenGL or if it's solely DX9?

I did a search but didn't find anything...

With the heavy time Gabe and his boys have invested into tweaking the Direct3D renderer it's unlikely that they'd want to go through the same process again for OpenGL.

Aw dammit. I sux at directx. :)

I just seem to have problems with it on occasion. CS right now doesn't run in DX for me well at all, nor do a few other games I've tried. It's a small problem, but still a problem. OpenGL runs nicely though.

Some games just simply don't run well in DX and some don't in OGL. CS definately runs a lot better in OpenGL than Direct3D. A lot of other games run better in DX, though, like UT2003 and Homeworld.

Would it not also be easier to do a linux port of the game if it was originally made for OpenGL?

DirectX sucks for Half Life, always has. IOW, you don't have problems with DirectX, Half Life does.

Hmm, are you using Linux for gaming? If so, dualbooting is the answer to all your struggles. :)

I'm not going to use it for gaming, but I'd LOVE to have the option. I only ever really play CS right now, but that'll change once HL2 comes out. I'll then have 2 games in my repertoire(sp?) and since the university has all their servers/physics comps running unix/linux, it'd be nice to run linux more... That, and I just like linux :)

I dual boot right now, but primarily use XP.
