Half-Life 2 and Doom III only for XBOX!

Just got this from Warp2Search

Just spotted this bit of info over at 3DGPU.com!

Kaptain Kangaroo posted a scan of PC Gamer in our forums, showing a page with some games on there, and one of them is Half-Life 2, with the logo "Only On Xbox" stamped on it. Now we shouldn't jump to conclusions, but I think a lot of people still remember how Microsoft snatched Halo from us PC gamers, and if they managed to somehow wrangle Half-Life 2 away from us, I can't begin to imagine how many upset and very disappointed people there will be all over the world.

If its XBox or nothing...I'd rather have nothing. I don't see how a feeble XBox could run HL2 in its full glory.

Remember that ATI is bundling it with some of its video cards and they paid a pretty penny for the priviledge. I somehow doubt its going to be Xbox only.

And why has Carmack said that Radeon 9800Pro is faster than FX5900U in Doom III; oh yeah, he modded his Xbox with those! of course! I am so stupid!

Xbox is just a glorified PC so none of your statements mean anything......

They can be developing the game for PC then shift to a xbox without much delay. It would just require them to optimize the game for a standard set of hardware.

I am definately not saying this is fact because I have no idea but mentioning what Carmack is doing with Doom 3 means nothing. It may be fastest on a 9800pro but that doesn't mean they won't only release it for the xbox.

If MS could get both of these games exclusive for the xbox then it will help their market share.

Carmack has also said that DoomIII will have a Linux port and I doubt he meant it for the people who run Linux on their xbox =)

Of Course it's false! Carmack said he put 5 times the effort into getting the game to work on NVidia cards than he did with ATI's... why would someone go through the trouble only to see the game never be run on an NVidia card?

Edit: I know this is just looking like a no brainer answer... lol... who wouldn't do something if the price was right?

Wasn't Half Life one of the highest selling PC games of all time? I doubt they wouldn't have HL2 for PC.

ATI are bundling their current cards with HL2.
And they can`t go back on their promise, otherwise it`s false advertising. So HL2 is almost certainly coming to PC.
Doom3, i would have thought that JC would be "loyal" to the PC followers that have helped build the mass fortune that he and ID Software have. ID are one company that MS cant "tempt" to Xbox exclusisitiy. They make a packet from engine licences and sales of their PC games. Doom3 will be on Xbox, just not exclusivly.

Well, I didn't intend for my neck to become unwound (eh?) but even the blurb at W2S didn't include the DIII info, I had to go to the 3DGPU forums to see it. And my second sentence was intended to refute the validity of the rumor. The pre-buy boxes were clearly marked for PC.

3rd-rate PC? 2 years ago, a P3-733 w/GF3 was good enough for a lot of stuff. If it's so third-rate, why does Halo CRUSH the fastest of PCs and video cards? (Yeah, I know, lousy coding.)

Also, why does everyone immediately blame everything, including high humidity, on Microsoft paying bribes. That's as lazy and ill-informed as claiming that Nvidia cheats on everything and causes acne, too! If you want to see some serious "bribing", take a look at SONY and all the stuff they've paid to be exclusive to the PS2. (*cough*GTA*cough*FF*cough*)

Thought I'd mention that I did say on the original post "Cannot be true". I mean can you honestly imagine the lost revenue for taking such a stance, it is I would suggest just an XBOX marketing issue, however, misleading at best. These two developers are looking for major income on these two titles shame they won't be released for the Holidays.

Lets hope so (that D3/HL2 is on PC).
I`d like to see D3 or HL2 on GC. The GC is fully capible of realtime lighting and shadowing, that D3 would require.

Because they do: KOTOR delay = bribe. MS knew they'd sell tens (scores, hundreds?) of thousands of xboxes to Star Wars fanatics who couldn't wait 6 months for the PC release or were looking to buy a new console anyway.

I didn't say MS was the only company doing it, just that it was very plausible that MS would pay to keep HL2 off PS2, especially since xbox was the easiest to port to and the PS2 might have trouble doing even a half-decent job on the rendering.

And yes, the xbox is (now) literally a third-rate gaming PC since it's 2 generations behind state-of-the-art in both CPU and GPU. Given how hard real PCs have to work for framereates on modern PCs in Doom3 and HL2 you know the graphics quality will be dialed way down to run on xbox.

The Bioware KOTOR PC forums are full of conspiracy whiners repeatedly proclaiming, as you have, that a dark conspiracy of Sith and M$ weasels (same thing?) are behind the delay DESPITE repeated denials from Bioware reps. It's kinda hard to disprove a negative, ya know?

The fact that EVERY Xbox is the same couldn't have sped the release of KOTOR. Noooooooooo!!!! It's bribe money from M$, that's it!!! The fact that after several additional months of development, the PC version is generally buggy and a total disaster on certain Intel/ATI rigs (and STILL awaiting a real patch [edit] I see the patch went live a few hours ago[/edit] ) indicates that if they'd released it simultaneously back in July with the console version to salve the whining conspiracy babies, it would've been a disaster of epic proportions.

That could mean that it's the only console that it runs on.

Also the beta of HL2 was leaked so we know for certain that it runs on PCs.
