btw what's the diff between the import and retail versions of this game? Newegg is also selling the US retail version for $50.

Nevermind I found the info in another HL thread, same game but much nicer DVD hard case instead of the useless small box that we get here. US games should be packaged this way.

I bought the import version (pacific asia English, I believe) from the GoGamer sale a while back, and have had no issues.

I bought the import box a month ago from NE, and it installed fine. All that's in the box is 5 CD's in envelopes and a quick reference card, absolutely nothing else, not even padding, everything is loose. The CD envelope says "Asia/Pacific Rim" but installs your chosen language just fine.

One note, if you try to with Counterstrike Source deselected in the installer, the install will fail at CD 4 for some wierd reason. Just install everything and you'll be OK.

After you've installed, use HL2 Preinstaller to make a DVD backup of the Steam files for easy loading next time (You're allowed to backup the encrypted Steam files, BTW)

Kind of curious, is it legal to sell import versions in the US? On import versions of college books there is usually a small print "not for sale in US", shouldn't it be the same way with games?
