I can only run half life 1 in software mode on my computer, when I try to switch to openGL I get an error message saying that "the selected openGL mode is not supported by your video card". I tried some googling, but there wasn't anything up to date concerning my problem.

My specs are as follows:
Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
512 mb of Ram
Radeon9700 pro

And I did upgrade my catalyst drivers to 5.7..

anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

it says that it's 1.1.1.0, and that's it out of date, but there aren't any updates for it.

I had a similar problem with HL1 before too, I believe I had to reinstall the video drivers.

as far as i know half life works better in opengl. it runs faster for me in opengl on steam and allows me to use aa/af.

I have the same system specs and running Cat 5.7 in XP SP-2 and Half life runs fine for me in GL and D3D.
