So I just finished replaying Half-Life 1 and I enjoyed it:
The Source version is completely broken since the Steampipe update in 2013 or so, but the Goldsrc version I used works fine. The graphics are still better than the original CD version, especially with the built-in HD content enabled. Speaking of which, I do prefer the new weapon implementations.
It also works fine at 4K, though the crosshairs for certain weapons become virtually invisible.
Some innovations I remember from the time were the persistent decals (even across level loads), and the Marines’ AI.
I also like Blue Shift but am not a fan of Opposing Force. I also dislike the sequel and its episodes, mainly because of the woeful weapons and ammo counts.
