Half Court/Full Court heaves

I know many players 'practice' that shot, but I'd have to say its almost entirely luck. Many people in the other thread had some examples of these prayer shots as what they thought was the most amazing basketball drama shot. i agree its cool, but its more probability than anything. What do you think?

Yes, I agree with you. Invariably, ESPN's top plays of the days will include some game where a player throws a desparation shot toward his own rim at the buzzer and happens to make it...

Laettner's last-second catch and grab to sink Kentucky was much more impressive than any Hail Mary heave...

Alright, not 1 in hundreds. There are nba games out there where a team will shoot 35% for the game. I don't know the percentage for catch & launch half-court shots, but I really can't see it being more than 1, maybe 2%.

Obviously if you take an nba player, have him stand half-court, and shoot ball after ball, the percentage would be higher, but in a game ending situation?
