Half.com: Anyone else have someone lie to them about new books?

I received today a textbook I ordered through half.com to save some money instead of buying new one. The book was advertised as being brand new. Sure enough, the book has stains on the side and there is dirt encrusted in the cover. What's worse, this dipsh!t didn't even pack the book, he just stuck it in an envelope. I'm not talking about an envelope with bubble-padding or anything, oh no, this guy sent it to me in a regular plain paper envelope and now both covers are severely marked. I specifically avoided used books because I knew that the seller would probable be pretty liberal with the definition of "good condition" but wtf was this dumbass thinking?

Now here's the upside. This idiot has already left me feedback so I can go nuts on his eval. Anyone care to make suggestions?

About all you can do is ask him for a refund and if he doesn't give one, leave feedback about him misrepresenting his books.

I've bought ~30 books off half and from amazon resellers. I've only had one that was in worse condition than described. It sucks that there are some people that do that to make an extra few bucks. Leave a neg and simply say the book wasn't in the described condition...not much else you can do.

I would try contacting the seller for a refund since the book is not in the condition they stated it was in. Your feedback can then reflect how they respond to you. I'm not sure if there's a way you can appeal to half.com or not.

All of my transactions through half (both buying and selling) have gone well. I've yet to have any problems.

I would contact the seller first and try to work something out. I have bought many books from Half and all have been as described. I recently started selling them and so far so good. No complaints. I try to use my best judgment on the condition. Most however have not changed much since I bought them, mostly like new.
