Hajime No Ippo *Appreciation Thread*

This was my first boxing anime.. and it is probably my 2nd or 3rd fav anime (second to Berserk.)

If you know any similar anime, please tell me -_-

I've heard so many rave reviews about Hajime No Ippo but I haven't got around to watching it. For some reason I can't understand why an anime about boxing would be so good... interesting.

What about Prince of Tennis? I don't read or watch it myself but my sister is crazy about it. Just throwing it out there, it's a sports anime.

I've enjoyed Ippo and PoT quite a lot, watched all the anime and have read all of the current translations of both. Another current sports anime to check out if you are interested is Major, they are subbing the second season right now.

Slam Dunk was pretty funny and great as well, picture quality might be a bit outdated but none the less is still a classic in my book.
PoT, gets a little repetitive and boring a bit, my prob wif it is it progresses a bit too slow. Another one i would recommend is Hikaru no Go, its an anime about a boy who plays a game called go, which is similar to othello, and his journey to the top of the ladder.

I watched the first couple eps of Go like years ago, but it never caught my interest.

Slam Dunk FTW! Sadly there are just way too many episodes to sit down and watch the whole thing.

ippo was 1 to 76 + two ovas

in manga, that's volumes 1-35 (or around chapters 1-340)

so a little more than double that should be around TV ep 170 (we're on vol. 78)

i've been watching the tv series since i saw this thread. so far upto epi 22.

One question, in the intro song, what the hell does "i want to dive lost mind" mean?

I dont get that. but it has been fun so far

I always remember the 'I want to dive lost mind' part.. that intro song may be a little corny but it pwns. I dunno what it means.. bad translations -_-
