Her hairdryer is broken and she resorts to air drying her shoulder-length. I don't want her going to bed with a wet head and need advice on what brand to look into. I see these things range from lower $20s to upperwards of $300, WTH!

Help me dry my woman's hair!

Try drying 12"+ long hair with a generic hair dryer. The heat of my loins produce more BTUs!

Honestly dude....everything is made in China. It's going to break in 1 year anyhow.

No joke....hair dryers are WORTHLESS these days. My mom used the same one for 10 years when I was growing up. Now, she gets a new one every 1-2 years.

My wife does the same.... Cheap, chinese hairdryers are about all you can buy these days, so don't waste your money one with more bells and whistles....you'll just be buying a new one in a year anyhow.

PS - The BTUs isn't the issue with a hair dryer, it's the volume of air it can push. In other words, the fact that the air is heated is a big part of how fast it dries hair, but it's also about how fast the fan blows. So the wattage should be 1300+, but doesn't matter much beyond that.

WTH? Dude, any $20 hair dryer will work just fine. Go to Target or Wallymart and get any old hair dryer.

Plain old hair dryers kind of suck. I would get one that comes with the extra attachments at the very least.

My wife seems to do fine... she doesn't care what brand.

And I had no idea that it was this widespread that they're all pieces of crap these days. Guess I'll have to stop complaining about replacing them :p

My girl friend has to buy one every year. Pickup a Conair for her, and if she does not like it she may not say anything to you as she would feel ungreatfull. Either way you will win, if you spent the dough for a really good Hair Dryer, being that most woman do not care about Technology and how it works but they do care about Brand Name (What woman is going to say no to a Conair) I simply cant see a woman saying, "Darn, this one is only 800W" . It will just break in a year and you will be SOL.

MY SO has a Elchim hairdryer. That thing can blow for hours, the hairdryer that is. I believe it costs over $100. My hair is 2 inches long and any cheapy hairdryer would work for me but she has very long hair and it takes half an hour to blow dry her hair.

I've had long hair for over thirty years, and for hair dryers, you do get what ya pay for. I've been using a Twin Turbo 3200 for the past seven years. Good- Great dryer, lotsa air flow, long cord. Bad- kinda heavy.

Right now I'm using the Conair Ion Shine 1875. I like that it has the concentrator attachment, but I don't know if Old Hippie's recommendation has it.

It's cheaper, but as he said, you get what you pay for, and he gave a pretty reliable one, in my opinion.

Concentrator attachments ftw  (not sure what the real name for it is). I always have to bring my own hair dryer with me when I stay at a hotel, because the cheapo hotel hair dryers never have the attachment.

I hope she is as worried about blowing your head. Make sure whatever you choose comes with the FlowBee.

not all hair dryers are created equal.....$20 hair dryers suck. Spending money on one will make all the difference.
