Screenie

i'm planning on getting my hair highlighted like in that screenie. was wondering what you would call that. a friend of mine thinks it's platinum. it's hard to tell from the picture but it's kinda white/gray in the movie. having white hair is great but gray highlights would even be better. i'm asian w/ black hair and some people say getting platinum highlights for asian is kinda tough. anyone have info on this type of stuff?

I could'nt open your link to see the picture, but I know what you're talking about. I'm a hairdresser and getting black hair blond is not hard it, it just takes a lot of time. If you are wanting silver hair, they will need to use a toner after they lighten it up. The way I would do it would be to lighten your hair for 20 mins. rinse off and then reapply. Repeat until it is a pale yellow blond. Then I would tone with either a trend silver colour or use a purple base colour which would be more of a purply silver. Anyway without seeing the picture I'm not sure what it's called but platinum is just a white blond. Hope this helps!

Since you have black hair, be prepared to reapply the bleach several times. I have near-black hair, and it takes me 3 applications to get my hair past the "pee yellow" phase. The darker the hair, the harder it is to get the color out.

oh god, with all sincerity and honesty, don't do it. you will regret because you will soon realize how stupid it will look. People WILL laugh at you.

unless you are from HongKong and live in Mong Kok and lead a thug life, now that's excused, otherwise, think thrice.

highlighting is fine, dark red, gold, brown, yellow/blond are all good colors.

Platium or white or gray is kinda hard to make it look Professional, and would be expensive to do so too;
there are "spray on" type for these colors but they look really fake and cheesy, and you hair will become real dry.
