Hail to the victors valiant, Hail to the conquering heroes!

I WAS ON THE FIELD FOR THE WINNING FIELD GOAL in the Michigan vs. Washington game! It was so hype!

I was supposed to be working security for Michigan Stadium, and my supervisor asked me if I wanted to go on the field to watch Michigan lose...so I said sure.

Little did I know that the winning field goal would be kicked with 6 seconds left! The only bad part of the day was having to hold back on yelling and screaming because of the fact that I was working security.

It was great.

Never should have come down to that in the first place ;)

Working security for that stadium? Dayaam...must take a force of like 1 thousand people to do that...

Not as many as you'd think. There are about 45 officers from around the area (Ann Arbor, Michigan State Police, U of Michigan Department of Public Safety, Washtenaw County Sheriffs, and Pittsfield Twp. Police), and then there are about 20 student security officers...so all in all, there are a bit less than 100 security personnel on duty.

We do a pretty good job of canvassing the stadium, though...especially for a fan/police ratio of 1100 to 1 :).

No kidding. Washingtom calls a defensive timeout with 12 seconds left and then has 12 men on the field the very next play resulting in a 15 yard penalty putting Michigan in Field Goal range. Some Washington Coach is going to catch hell for that!

The coolest part of the day though (possibly better than the field goal) was the briefing in the morning - it was about 60 police officers in one big conference room just cracking jokes and getting down to business.

I wish I could be a city cop, but going to UM sort of disqualifies me from that. Maybe I could be an FBI special agent after law school...:)
