What a fvcking joke.
Operation Iraqi Freedom Military Heroes Playing Cards: Great companion to Iraqi 'Most-Wanted' Decks!
People will do anything to make a buck. Who's supposed to be a hero here, GW? Wolfowitz? Rumsfeld? Jessica Lynch?Come on now. The best part are the pictures of military hardware, they were so desperate to find "heroes" they just have pictures of Apaches and F117's with "the pilots of..." written under them.

Hero: A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life

One could argue that some of the soldiers are heroes, but in no way is anyone in the Bush Admin. close to achieving that status. It's like people who tried to profit after 9/11, but its a small price to pay for the benefits of a capitalist society. I wonder which "patriots" actually bought this crap.

So anyone who buys these is a "blind patriot"?

What is you problem with people marketing things like this? Is it because you didn't think of it first? or the fact they are profiting because of the war? Alot of people profit from the war. Newspapers, magazines, and TV profited - so you have a problem with them also?

Not a blind patriot, just a stupid one. I have no problems with newspapers, magazines etc. because they provided a service for their profits. People need information, they provide it. I guess if some people need "hero cards", then these guys are doing society a service.

So you want product marketing limited to what you think is "OK"? or maybe we should just have the government put out a list of events people can and can't market products from.

If you don't like them - don't buy them. You can call them "stupid" but be prepared for them to call you "stupid" in return;)

I don't care what people buy, I'm just saying that IMO, it's a retarded product. I don't agree with it, but I think the people who came up with it are quite ingenious and are just capitalizing on people's stupidity and sapiness. I don't think its the right thing to do, but that's the beauty of our economic system, there is always a market as long as you can find the customer. I mean come on, would you buy a deck of these?

No, I wouldn't buy them.

I also wouldn't buy a T-shirt with bin Laden's picture on it or a watch with Saddam's picture on the face.

I don't see you condemning those actions. Do you reserve your ire solely for American merchants?

I am an American, the only actions that concern me are those perpetrated by my country and countrymen. I don't think those others are right to do what they do, but since we like to act like the moral standard of the world, its time we put our money where our mouth is. If American merchants were pedalling said products, I would be strongly against them as well. I'm not as shallow as you think I am.

I just think you got a little riled up over something trivial.;)

More than anything, it is amusing, but I still think it's wrong to portrey people who are not heroes as being otherwise. Of course, they are not heroes IMO, so my view is subjective and I did not claim it to be otherwise.

Actually it's rather ironic.

You complain that in your view the US "likes to act like the moral standard of the world" and here you are.....

Sorry, I thought it was obvious.

You complain that the US "likes to act like the moral standard of the world" which implies to me that you think that the US imposes it's moral views on the world. Here you are in this forum imposing your moral view, right or wrong, on the people of this forum.

It struck me as ironic, that's all.

Its just my opinion, I think I clearly stated that more than once. That's what IMO means: In My Opinion. I did not impose anything on anyone. The US imposes with military might. People can choose to ignore me without consequence. Ignore the US and, well, just ask the Iraqi's what happens.

So you are saying that the sole reason the US went into Iraq was to impose our moral values on them?

Come on, we've been through this debate a billion times now. You know my views, I know yours, and I think you know exactly why and under what context I posted this.

I certainly do know why you posted it. I was just curious if you would admit to it.

Cheers.

I have three sets of the cards that Topps put out after Desert Storm. Not sure what they are worth, but two boxes have never been opened and are still sealed in plastic. The other has been opened so that I could put a set of the full cards and stickers together.

What do you call the president speech on USS Abraham Lincoln about thanks to our soldier Iraqis can have "trully" democratic govt
while a couple of days back his defense sect. just clearly warned that Iraqis cannot have theocracy style govt even if the majority of people choose so. Just govt approved by US
if that is not imposing our values (and kinda ironic too in that area, you can have freedom, as long as it's our way), I don't know what is...

Apparently you missed the demographics lesson on Iraq. If the majority of the country decided to have a theocracy modeled on Iran, it would merely substitute a tyranny of the Ba'athists (secular Sunnis) for a tyranny of the Shia, since as informed people know, Shia are the majority of Iraq in terms of population.

Allah forbid that the Iraqis have a representative democracy/republic as opposed to an oppressive religious regime implanted through the actions of agents from Iran.

An awareness and understanding of the government of Iran which it seems you do not have.
