Its funny how a country of many millions can survive every four years with a comic as a presedent.

It looks like the republican speech writers get thier material from saturday morning cartoons.

I guess when you cant speak to the issues that matter to the people, you have no alternative but to attack your opponent with childish ,slanderous name calling. Alot is evidenced right here in this forum between members with different views.

Civility and politics mix like oil and water.

At least he recognized right then and there he had screwed and stopped. Gore would have just yelled louder to convince people he was right, while knowing he had screwed up.

Also I have done my own taxes for about 18 years, and until Turbo-tax came out, it was insanely difficult to get through. Especially if you have a family and Itemize your deductions.

A large part of the country pays an accountant to do their taxes, that should tell how hard it is to do.

Did you see the VP debate, that proved that you can have civility and politics.
But alas we live in a country that thrives on Jerry Springer type talk shows, so what do you expect but to have yelling matches for political discussion?

Mr chicken

<<Did you see the VP debate, that proved that you can have civility and politics.>>

Yes,I saw it. I also commented the veeps should be running for top post not Gore/Bush. Unfortunately, Republicans picked Bush over McCain,so my choice so far is clear. One issue. I'm pro choice. I care thet Roe vs Wade not be overturned and this next 4 years is the time frame for picking new supreme court justices. All the rest is window dressing.

<<But alas we live in a country that thrives on Jerry Springer type talk shows, so what do you expect but to have yelling matches for political discussion? >>

I dont watch springer or any talk shows. I watch CNN market watch and the cable news channels. I see blips of both campaigns with there sound bites on the nightly news because my state is a republican lock and they never campaign here. Dems don't waste there money here on 2 electral votes(Maybe its 4,I forget). The rest is the snipping here in these forums, and web sites.

I have seen time and time again, nothing but mean spirited personal attacks predominately by the republican pundits and Bush himself in the newsbites broadcast on TV. What do you attribute it to? If you had issues to talk about, you wouldn't have time for personnal attacks,I would think.

Here, antime an issue is addressed by a member,it seems to be followed by a personnal attack. Maybe it's genetic. I am guilty myself, although I try only to respond in kind when an attack is leveled towards me now.

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion. It doesn't make it right to attack ones intelligence or age or race or sexual preference as I have seen by some of the more vocal members in this forum, especially on the night of the veeps debate. This has got to end.

Red Dawn

You sir are a gentleman and you admit when it goes to far.And you take steps to correct it. I am doing the same.
I am not thin skinned. I am angry that one whom you all hold in high esteem went on an attack the other day and probably did erapparable harm to a young member by chiding his intelligence, his age,and his race. This crap needs to end. Red,you and I are adults, but many of the youger children read what we post in here and some take it as gospel. I think it is our responsibility to maintain civility in our discussions and I am taking steps in my own posts to try and remember that.

You can be sure I can take care of myself, mono on mono, but when this is just to blast someone to make yourself more important in the minds of the reader than to really contribute to the thread, that is what I refer to.

Come on people, this whole issue is a red herring. NO WAY that Roe v Wade is going to be overturned in the forseeable future.

ASSUME that the next President tried to appoint anyone that would vote to reverse. Well, the fact is that as long as there are as many "pro-choice" Senators as there are, there is not a snowball's chance in hell that a nominee like that could ever be confirmed. Just ain't gonna happen.

So could we please not waist our time on this issue....

RED,

<<That's why Upper Middle Class White Boys also have so many Failed Marriages >>

LMAO:D:D:D

Frenchie tells me he is an attorney.I could see him possibly in the 39% tax rate. I live in a $300,000 home on a half acre, I have a 19foot bayliner to play in ,and a 1999 truck. I am not in the 39% bracket because of "loopholes",deductions, etc. I am not upper middleclass. I am white anglo saxon protestant and my wife is not a soocermom, but a damn good Denver Bronco NFL football fan.

My marriage may fail if I spend too much time on this PC though;)

I get your point........................................Still laffing;)

This aspiring middle class, shop rat, white boy works REAL hard for the money. That's the big issue with me. And you're right TS, Roe V Wade is in trouble if Bush gets in. Believe it or not, it's not even that big an issue for me. I'm merely surprised that abortions, especially late-term, are even legal at all. If you want to be coarse, it probably is best that those that are aborted are not sharing our resources. Smacks of Hitler and genocide to me, but that's the practical side of it.

The biggest thing that gripes me about the Democrats I work with and even my parents is that they bitch the loudest about welfare cheats, coddled criminals and overbearing unions etc. When I point out that they keep voting in the party that perpetuates that, they just mutter about all politicians being liars, crooks and do-nothings.

At least most of the Dems on this board have pretty good reasons to vote left. And not just to suck up what they can from government hand outs etc. I don't personally know anyone that does. I do know a couple that deserve aid, but don't qualify for one reason or another.

Oh well, hang in there guys. I ain't gonna quit bitching no matter who gets elected. Sorry if you catch any of the flak. I do appreciate you lending your ear so that I can vent... uh... once in a while

Red,

You're right. 99.9% of us DON'T fit in the Upper Middle Class.... I know I don't. I don't have any of those degrees either (BA in Poly Sci only).... it was all for effect and humor.

Most folks would be surprised to find out that they are in the lower middle class or worse....

Everyone should read Bill O'Reilly's book... The O'Reilly Factor. I'm waiting on my copy now, but the first chapter (on his portion of the FOX website) points out that classism is a serious though unrecognized problem in this society.

If the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, you can bet there will be class problems. The real problem is how do the rich keep getting rich and the poor keep geting poorer without the later doing something about it. The challenge is to create a genuine egalitarian society, or keep the masses dumb, or scared, or both.

Red,

I know you were just being humorous, because you can't really believe that O'Reilly's book could be anywhere NEAR as objectionable as "Mein Kampf"... Geez...

Actually, it sounds pretty interesting based on what I read in the first chapter. It is not at all an Elitist or Ultra-Conservative book. Actually, it appears to be pretty centrist.... actually pointing out that there ARE classes, and that neither class has a clue about the other. Not that either class is bad necessarily... just isolated from the other.

Anyway.... even if you disagree with what he says, O'Reilly is a good source to read/listen from... He'll either enlighten or at least offer some balance to the much larger liberal leaning media. :)

His campain advisors just drill this stuff into his head. It's no wonder he forgets some of his promises because he makes so many.

Say what you will of fox news but there's no refuting they're the single exception to the democrat bias that exists on all other news channels.
