or would it be called GRITS?

this fool in a monte carlo ss started revving his engine at me. generally i'd ignore him, but i couldn't resist after seeing his "racing stripes". his 3.8L V6 vs my 3.0L V6. apparently, the stripes or "nascar inspired" spoiler didn't help... :D

yeah its true that stuff doesn;t really do anything...but still at least it is on a car that has decent specs

putting that stuff on an econo box is really ricey

Well since we are talking about kills also, this last gen altima was trying to hang with me tonight. Then we pull up to a stoplight. Light turns green, I punch it, no launch and I pull cleanly from his sorry ass :D

how can Nascar (american) be called rice in any way? I'm getting sick and tired of hearing the term rice used for any mods on a car. sometimes people are just so ignorant......

"rice" is used to describe aesthetic mods that make you LOOK fast. regardless of whether the car's an import or domestic.

Ugly, but then again it is from GM and they are notorious for putting ugly stickers on some of their cars to make them look 'fast' or whatever, but they are usually just tacky and tasteless. I remember in the late 70's that as the Trans Am's horsepower ratings dropped the size of that ugly bird sticker got bigger and bigger.

So 'authentic' stripes on a Nascar really does make it go faster?

BTW, my factory '98 Mustang has plastic looking vent holes on the doors (i'm assuming that's what they're suppose to represent), so is that 'riced'?

yo, have you seen that huge, oversized hood scoop on the bullitt? that thing must go REALLY fast.

"authentic nascar" stripes on a SLOW street car is just dumb. if chevy put them on the ss camaro i wouldn't really care, but on the monte carlo?

If it comes from the factory that way, it isnt rice. Besides, the 3.8 motor is an old school motor that has been around for a LONG time and is generally considered a very reliable and decently fast motor. By contrast, it will probably outlive your motor by 50-100k miles.

On a side note, GM really did an injustice by putting a normally aspirated motor in a SS car. I own a 97 GTP with a 3.8 SC motor. This is the same motor that should be in the SS.

Thrasher has a monte carlo with the 3.8 sc in it but they could not get it to run this weekend after changing the cam. I think it was a timing issue but left before it started. It is intercooled, has a smaller than stock SC pulley, Thrasher Cam, etc.

Here is a pic or two if anyone is interested.

it's rice since it isn't "stock". it's an option package that you pay for.

the gtp rocks. i think that you're doing yourself an injustice by comparing the monte carlo to your gtp. the monte carlo does NOT deserve the ss labeling. imo.
