haha...white van speaker scam

Deeko

These guys must be getting desparate...rather than a parking lot or somewhere easy to do a transaction, today a guy at a red light on Market St asked me to buy speakers...yea I'm gonna buy speakers on the busiest street in town...if I hadn't been starving and going to dinner I might have looked at them, I'm curious as to what they try to pass off as good speakers. Ah well.

I live in Tulsa. but, a couple months ago one of those guys stopped me in the bank parking lot after I'd hit the ATM. So, I was freaking out.. but they actually had Cerwin Vegas. They had supposedly fallen off of Best Buys truck....

They probably were...

The part about falling off Best Buy's truck is the shady part. 😉

As I'm walking into the Gym two days ago, I hear a "Hey, Mister!" shouted from far away. I turn back and see someone yelling out a white van asking if I want to buy speakers.

What's sad is, it's like everything else. If they are doing it, someone must be buying. Same with telemarketers.. if nobody ever bought, they would never call.

🙂

My friend bought a pair of "Pro Dynamic" speakers from a guy in a white van.. Supposedly a club ordered 10 pairs of speakers but 11 were being delivered..

It was funny cause' my friend bought them right outside of Orbitz (dance club) here in Gainesville two years ago.

The speakers have a warranty and supposed list price of $1069 per pair.. He paid $300 for the pair. They have aluminum cones and look substantial - like stage speakers you'd see at a concert. They're really loud and sound really nice - but maybe a little too bassy (what you'd expect at a club).

At first I thought, "Damn you got scammed." But, now, I'm not so sure after seeing them in action.

Why do they always have white vans? Why not blue, black, green, whatever? Is it to give an impression that it is a work van, since most work vans are white.

Open them.. Most people report that they sound fairly good..

No they don't.

Go read the reviews.

Friend of mine bought a set of these for a similarily cheap price. Think he paid CDN$100 for two sets. They actually don't sound all that bad. 😛 Little wimpy in the bass region, but tinkering with the crossovers fixed that right up. 🙂

Someone approached me last year in the van. He told me I was making a big mistake by not buying them. I am sure it was the mistake of my life

I doubt bestbuy would ever be classy enough to carry Cerwin Vega.

Just yesterday I was approached by a guy in a red expedition. Maybe they are moving up in the world. BTW, this was in Sacramento, CA.
