Wife Throws Grenade At Husband
Jordan - A Jordanian woman hurled a tear-gas grenade at her husband during a family argument, knocking him unconscious, in an act described by the press as bold and unpredented in this conservative country.
The incident occurred in the densely populated working class Amman neighborhood of Marka, Al-Rai and Al-Dustour said. The couple had a loud and violent argument that was heard by the neighbours, who called the police. When the authorities arrived they found the husband unconscious on the ground, tears streaming down his face and the grenade near him.
The two dailies noted that the incident was the "first of its kind" to take place in conservative Jordan, where like most Arab and Muslim countries men usually have the upper hand. It was not immediately clear if the woman was arrested but the police were interrogating her to find out where she got the grenade.
