Haha, is it wrong of me to suggest a different type of birth control for my gf? :)

Cuts them down to 4 periods a year, which i also assume, means only 4 PMS's a year....

Wrong of me or not to suggest the switch to another form of the pill? :D

Your logic is a bit flawed. Realize that birth control == hormones, and changing birth control types can lead to an emotional rollercoaster, regardless of how infrequently periods occur.
With BC: I had to convince her to have sex, but it was good for me because I didn't have to use a condom.

Without BC: She's ravenous and jumping all over me, but with a condom, I'm as useless as parapalegic's walking stick - the equipment is all there, but it's of no use to anybody.

It was not my experience to have any pms induced rages when on Depo or Norplant, which had 3 month and 5 year (3 for me, had them out early) cycles respectively. I would think that leveling out the hormones for months on end wouldn't be as pms provoking as the ups and downs hormonally of the traditional pill (or no bc at all.)

No go ahead suggest then it's up to her :).

But apparently it's not very healthy to stay on those birth control pills for very long.

Is this still prohibitive to women who smoke? My girl still cannot give up the cancer stick.

Forgive my bitchiness, but why would she care if it's harmful to her health to use the pill when she is a smoker? Her track record for healthy living isn't that great so far.

Because hormone birth control + smoking = blood clots. There is chance of dying years down the road from smoking, there is a much larger chance of dieing of a heart attack or stroke right now from smoking and using hormones. It's called risk management.

what was that famous quote?

"I don't trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesn't die"

God bless you Mr. Mackey.

And no. Sure you can suggest it...joint decision.

I think it needed a bolding. I couldn't take having her get less than 12 :)

Wouldn't it be a bummer to worry so much only to find out your impotent when you actually wanted a kid? lmao :)

Depro turned my ex-girlfriend into even more of a psycho. She would call me at 3am crying and saying how her 'female junk' hurt. I would be careful with that sh!t. But, she did get bigger boobs and a nicer ass (put on a few pounds).

Tread lightly my friend, these pills and shots often have unintended side effects and it's hard to stop taking them when you just took a 90 day dose.

Then there's Depo, no period as long as you do it every six month(?).

Or Norplant, five years of sex.

Norplant removal has been much more difficult for many practitioners than might be anticipated.
Norplant, five years of sex and a big ass scar when they try to find where it's moved to and dig it out of you, particularly if you're body has built up a bunch of scar tissue around it...

Yep. A couple of my norplant rods moved deep, almost into muscle, before the scar tissue locked them in place. Yes, they don't just pop out when they cut a hole. They have to dislodge them from the scar tissue. My scar isn't too bad now, maybe a little under an inch long.

Now that they have depo and the patch, I wouldn't recommend Norplant anymore. I don't really regret getting it though.

No big deal, if you show some tact. I got my gf to change to it. The holder it comes in is huge!!!

some side effects may include, abdominal pain, hearing loss, gangreen (sp?), menstual cramps, diabetes, blindness, constipation, and a very slight chance of death.

yeah, i'd say suggest it to her. ;)
