Had a lady bring her little children into work today to have a tour of our offices where she works. Along the way she stopped into the IT department and was pointing out things to her child. Her little boy (about 3 years old I'd say) was awestruck by all the computers in the room, wiring, old parts, empty cases, our NOC, and everything else in there both geek and non-geek. He wandered over towards one of our computers and began pointing at it and shouting at his mom. He came over and said, "Wow, yeah. What's that?" He grinned wide as a chesher cat and shouted proudly "Linux!" :D

Damn, I want kids like that! That little boy is a geek in the making. hehe.

If any kids I may have in the future are happy about Linux being installed on a machine I will disown them.

Awe, someone doesn't like linux. :D

Actually, all but 2 of the people in our office use Freebsd at our workstations anyways. But to the unedumacated it looks like linux. :)

Hey, speaking of linux. Did you guys hear that Windows XP barely beat out KDE/Linux for most usable desktop OS? That's awesome news. :)

Try to install a downloaded program, configure it, use it, and uninstall it. They won't even be close.... Linux/BSD still has a long way to go into the installation arena.

LOL...i take it you never heard of a program called red-carpet? It does it all for you. Checks for dependencies and installs, configures and removes the old version of the program.

I really wish people got informed about the subject before spreading FUD.

PS: In all honesty, people use different tools for different jobs. If your job requires things which can only be done in Windows, then use that. If your job requires things which can only be done in Linux, then use that. I'm more in favor of using Linux for a multiple of reasons. But that's my decision.
