It was my favorite type of weather today (cloudy, 40°, light drizzle), so I decided to pay a visit to my old high school's cross country course to run a quick 5k after work. I got off work at noon, and jogged over to the starting line (my job is about a quarter-mile from my old high school), and started the run.
Part of the course is parallel to and completely visible from a very busy street (S. Main St., for all you Ann Arborites). I was running on that portion, and all of a sudden I hear the sound of tires skidding on wet pavement. I looked up to witness a silver Saturn Ion rear-end a Honda Civic. I considered stopping to make sure everyone was okay, but that would involve running across a busy road. Plus, it was a minor accident. Clearly no injuries.
THEN, as I watched, the guy in the Ion (at fault) throws his hands up in the air in frustration and then looks DIRECTLY at me and gives me the finger.
He must have been glancing at me running and not noticed that traffic was stopped at a light. I smiled, shrugged, and continued my run.
