I list my cell phone number on my resume, so this dude calls me and is like "hey i'm blahblabhabha and I saw your resume, I work for blahblahbalbha and would be interested in having a phone interview with you soon!"

All this while my boss is sitting right behind me.

I am such a smooth player, I talk to the guy on the phone, I say, Monday at 3, are you available? He says yes, and I say "okay I will talk with you then!" , after I write down his phone number again, in front of my boss.

I turn to my boss stone cold face and say, well I guess you know now -- can I leave early on Monday for a dentist's appointment?

I had to use the bathroom immediatly afterwards to control my laughing.

If you got a call for an interview, the story just falls apart because it's nothing unique. I don't see the humor in the story but that's just me.

What kind of dentist's patient takes down a dentist phone number ? Much less... follows up with "I'll talk to you then" ?

When I read your title, I thought to myself, "ooo, potentially amusing story...probably one where someone gets OFFERED a job"

then I read it and it's just "hey, would you like an interview?"

hardly the same thing.

I had the same thing happen to me, had to walk into another room since about 7 people could hear me over the cube walls...

Yea I did... after 4 months of pestering and annoyance. It's another topic entirely, but the money wasn't the point of that for me. And this is why I'm looking hardcore for another job.

Because he doesn't really care. I answered the call and turned around to see him standing behind me. He wanted to know the 'status' of something or other...
