The rim has a slight chip on the outer edge and can be easily polished out. If you choose to leave it as is, then it can be used as a "speed hole" which allows the outer part of the rim and inner sidewall of the tire to be cooled at high speeds. A common cause of tire blowout at high speeds is excess heat buildup and this will prevent such dangerous conditions. It will also give the brake caliper and rotor additional cooling, which will no doubt improve lap times on track day.
This rim also comes with a 205/50VR16 Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tire that is 99% worn, so you can save your money and have DOT approved racing slicks. (You can also drift through corners like those Initial D Japanese animes...how cool is that!) However, the air that comes inside the tire is not free. I charge $5 per 1 psi of high quality California coastal air...this isn't the dirty Mexico City air, so you will get improved performance and probably a few horsepower as well (I'm estimating...oh, 15 horses at the wheels, so that's 25 at the crank).
