I bought USA Spec Honda ipod/aux adaptor for my car, all I have is a wire coming out of a cubby to hook to the ipod. I didnt connect the stereo mini

Actually, quite a few new head units have the option for that. I know most scions can and the Mercedes E class has a connection in the glovebox.

Did that for a Kenwood eXcellong KDC-X592 in the LS - USB cable dangling in the glovebox.

Some of us don't really care for iPods, or Apple products in general for that matter. Besides, I can actually hook up ANY sound source to this, pretty useful me thinks.

dice unit has both ipod interface and AUX.

there isn't anything wrong with the AUX input, whatever floats your boat.

It's a bit more than that, I had to take the trimmings off, then the radio, then the shift lever cover, then the plastic box thingy, then disassembled the tray where the jack is sitting, drilled holes, trim the plate, and PLUG the unit in.

The factory radio is programmed with an auxiliary option, just not turned on if nothing is attached to it, so someone (Bavauto.com) made a plug that fits in that slot and the rest is history. The only work I had to do was what I described. Normally when I cycle through the options for input, AUX would not come up unless I have the proper plug in the back.

Yeah, but attaching any USB device is pretty neat (I've tried an external powered 3.5", unpowered 2.5", a few flash MP3 players and a few thumbdrives).

This! I had the dice kit in my E46 330XI, ipod dock/power/music info on the HUD and Aux port all in one package.

What car?

I did something similar to my car except I have an input cable coming out of the center console. Means all I have to do is plug in whatever mp3 player I want. Only issue is that I have to use a blank CD and it cuts out for about 5 secs every time it reaches the end. No big deal though, way better than a FM transmitter.
