so i've been into the dev scene w/xbox since day 1 of the enigmah beta putting it in my xbox. so i've been ripping apart xbox'es for a long time.

so anyways, last week i'm playing tiger woods 2k5 for a few hours and i smelled something wierd. then my xbox cut off. so i open up my xbox and i noticed one of the points on the power supply are coming unsoldered. so i soldered it back on, and it worked fine ... for about 2 days.

2 days later im playing, same thing. this time, i open it up and my PSU is gone. a few traces were just completely off the board. so now i cant play tiger woods 🙁

So tonight my bro comes back from his new roomates house and is like 'my new roomate said he fried his xbox and wanted you to look at it. if it's fried, he said just keep it for parts.' so i looked at it, and when he was trying to get some solder off the motherboard of the xbox, i don't know how, but he sliced like 5 traces apart. so the mobo is gone. so now i have an xbox PSU 🙂

although, I did order another one on sunday from ebay, so i still have another one coming. but for now i can play tiger woods! so now i'm off to install my PSU, as wellas a switch on my Xecuter 1 modchip so that I can play tiger woods when i buy xbox live this weekend 😀

EDIT: Pic of the Fried one and the new one

CLIFFNOTES:
-Xbox PSU Died
-Other guy fried his XBox mobo so I can use it for parts
-I have a PSU now, but i ordered another one so i will have 2 when it gets here.
-I am installing my PSU and switch on my chip so i can go on Live

I think your XBox was trying to tell you to stop playing that garbage on it. 😀
Oh well, at least you know how to fix it. I'd just throw mine in the garbage and buy a new one if anything ever happened to it.

What's with XBOXs and 'frying'?

lol good question. i have had mine for ages, but still, it shouldn't all of a sudden get a loose trace on the power supply. but this other guy just used that term. he knows he fvcked up and cut traces, so oh well for him.
