I just replaced my HAF-X I/O front panel, and there is one wire on the new one that the old one did not have. I am wondering what it is for?

It appears to be a grounding wire I assume? If so how exactly would I ground it? The wire is pretty short, and I don't know where to ground it to. As many of you know the Haf-X is textured painted steel, not exposed aluminum, am I too mount it to the nearest screw hole and fasten it to the case with a screw? What if I cannot reach the closest hole?

On mine there is a screw hole on the opposite side of that.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have that screw hole on the opposite side on the old defective one I replaced. The newer one CM sent me doesn't have that hole, it also has the 19-pin usb 3.0 to mobo short cable, instead of the long blue passthrough cables. I was able to finally thread it through to the the 2nd 5.25 bay just barely and secured it with a nut and screw to one of the holes, looks ugly but whatever.

Guess I am Confused. The Ground Screw was on the case not the faceplate. If you swap out the front module you should still have the screw spot. As for the Faceplate, mine came with the mobo connector for the USB 3 and a adapter to pass through. Maybe you can call CM up and have them send you the adapter.

they didn't send me just the front module they sent the entire top of the case with the new front module attached which includes the new 19 pin usb3.0 connection, so no need for the adapter. if you weren't talking about an actual screw hole on the module then i have no idea where this screw hole is, i've looked everywhere. the absolute closest and only possible solutions were to let it sit in between my bd drive, and the top 5.25 drive bay without fastening it just have it sit snugly in between, or thread it down the the 2nd 5.25 just barely because of the length and secure it to the screw hole with nut and screw

No I Just purchased my HAF X. It has the mobo connector from the front plate like your but as an accessory it also came with an adapter to change it back to the Usb3 connectors to run through the back. As for the Ground, there is a screw hole on the top of the steal portion of the case, that top piece would cover it right up, if looking at the case from the front, it would be on the left, from the back it would be at the right.

Was just working inside my case and I decided to take another look to see if I can find the hole you were talking about it. I don't know how I missed it the other times I checked, I must have not had much sleep or it was too dark but I see the hole now. I originally tried to screw it into the "blue" hole but that ended up not working because a plastic piece of the case would go there. I just screwed it into the "red" hole you suggested and it definitely works better than the 2nd drive bay solution I was using. Thanks.
