had win98, upgraded to win2000pro now dvd doesn't work help!

Now that I have upgraded to win2000, I get a message saying a that I need a dvd decoder. Do I have to buy something new or is there a good one to download?
 
Do you have a hardware decoder? ... I.E. a PCI card?

I had a decoder card that wasnt supported by W2K after I upgraded. But, my system is strong enough to run a software decoder. So, I use the software decoder now. It's not as visually crisp, but it works well.

Post more info please.
