When they hire people in India for the AOL help line.

Do they give them a New NAME???? or is it the trend to give your child and Americanized name in India??

***My wife refuses to let me quit AOL. She wont use anything else. "c'est la vie"

I read an article on the Indian support people a while ago. They have them choose an American sounding name to use on the phone.

for future reference "Employee" is a noun, the person EMPLOYED is called an EMPLOYEE.

"Employ" is the verb as in TO EMPLOY.

that ends our vocab lesson for today.

"Hi, my name is Kapeshkerninninajung. How may I help you today?"

"Well, Kapeshkerninninajung, my Internet connection doesn't seem to work even though I can log in."

"Hi, my name is Ka-pesh-ker-nin-nin-a-jung."

"Yes, Kapeshkerninninajung. I understand. Now.. how do I fix my Internet connection."

"It is Kapeshkerninninajung!!!! Kapeshkerninninajung!!! That is my name!"

"I am a cop you idiot!"

"Kapeshkerninninajung! Kapeshkerninninajung! Kapeshkerninninajung! Kapeshkerninninajung! Kapeshkerninninajung!"

"Oh, it seems my connection is working fine now, thanks."

good job. editing "when they employee people in India" to "when the higher people . . ."

of course shouldn't really expect more from a Jets fan. 🙂

BTW: It's "hire"

Same thing happened to me last time I called Microsoft.

Funny thing, she was in India, had an American name but her accent sounded German to me! Nice lady but not very helpful. OOPS, forgot I was calling Tech Support there for a minute.

And yes, CSRs abroad use American names to build rapport with the customer.
