I was having problems with my computer locking up because of the sb live. It was hell. I thought it was the south bridge and my IBM 75gxp. While trying fix it I currupted my registry, so I was like forget and gave it to someone to fix. I paid them $135 all they did is reinstall windows and did not fix the prob. I thought it might be the power supply. $60 for a new one. Same probs. I tried to do I bios update. Killed bios. Paid dude $165 to fix. I was about to RMA mobo back to msi when I gave it one more try. I finally fixed them when I heard sb live likes irq 5. I spent so much time and money trying to do this. This is my first comp I build. Has this kind of catastrophy happened to anyone else. It was computer hell. After disabling usb and my ethernet card I saw that my video card was using irq 5. So I was like wtf I cant disable my video card or take it out. So I went into the bios and selected this option call "VGA irq" I disabled it. When I went into windows. SB live was on irq 5 and video card was on 9. Now it looks like it works. I have a few questions left. Why does windows not allow you to simply select the irq in device manager. I uncheck the automatic box but it still wont let me. What happened to diamond? Did they buy or get bought by S3. They quit making soundcard. All they make now is mp3 player and video cards right? What about Aureal what happened to them. Did they go out of buisness. Creative I heard is going to quit makin video cards. True? Every told to get a santa cruz. They were saying how bullcrap the sb live is. I though creative was a very good company. A pioneer. Now all I here is people cryin about them. What happened. Do they suck. Also when is the next gen of sound card comin out. I am gettin tired of this old crap. If someone actually answer my post I would like it if you could try to answer all the questions. Not trying to be annoying just dont want to ask again. Thanks
