Had my first valve check done today on the bike.

I took it to the dealer because I've read that doing this yourself is a big PITA. Anyway, there were two valves that needed shimming after 14,500 miles.

Met some cool guys there and a number of people were admiring my bike.

They have an Aprilia Tuono for sale used that looked pretty sweet. It had Akropovic exhaust on it, tons of aftermarket carbon bits and they were asking $9k for it. One of the guys was telling me about the Kawasaki Z1000, he's a Triumph guy and hates what they did to the Speed Triple but said he rode the Z1000 and liked it very much. Might have to check one out one of these days.

I still pine for the Ducati Monster though. 😀

What I'm getting from this thread is that you subconsciously want to sell the SV and buy the Tuono. I agree 🙂

As for the Triumph guy, he's probably got the same issue with the headlights like a lot of other people. That's easy to overcome and the new Speed Triple SHOULD be WAYYYY better than the old one in terms of performance.

Got done with my ride today and headed over to Alamo Triumph and worked out my down payment and financing for the Street Triple R. Also asked for the sticker price on the new Speed Triple...around $12600 w/ ABS & $11800 w/o ABS.

Oh man, this dude was hating hard on the look of the new Speed Triple. I kind of dig it myself.

That Aprilia has been in there for a few weeks but I'm not really interested quite frankly. The guy who owned it before tracked it and while it looks sweet there just isn't anything I can do to it to make it mine...and quite frankly I think it's kind of ugly.

I agree about the Speed. At first I didn't like it, but the more I look, the more I see that it's DIFFERENT and that makes it look better.

I'm digging the Aprilia RS4 125 that should be coming out later in 2011. Don't know what the specs will be but it would be one badass track bike, except for the fact that it'll cost more than any other "intro" bike.
