Had my first lucid dream

So I woke up this morning the way I usually do, by stumbling out of bed and heading to the shower but when I stepped past the shower curtain and into the shower I froze.

You see, I have an average bathtub/shower. It's one of those plastic "faux porcelain" things but the shower I stepped into this morning was made of little tiles. Not really a big deal, but either way it wasn't my shower and that's when it hit me.

I'm still asleep! :Q

It was freaky. The dream still had some dreamlike qualities to it (like the shower issue) but otherwise it was almost real. Nothing like a usual dream. I seriously felt as if I had woke up and got out of bed. Also, while I wasn't able to control my actions I was very much aware that I was dreaming. To be honest it wasn't very pleasant because people I knew started popping up and I was seriously like OMGWTFBBQDREAMPEOPLE! It's seriously unsettling to have someone you know standing in front of you but it's not really them. Like "invasion of the body snatchers" unsettling. 😀

Anyone else have similar experiences with this sort of thing?

I would be lying if I said this sort of thing didn't occur to me. 😀 I was completely able to think clearly.

Unfortunately I was just along for the ride though. No real control over my actions. 🙁

I have tried to do this, but as soon as I realise that I'm dreaming I wake up. I go from middle of a dream to full bolt upright wakefullness in an instant. It's not pleasant, and I just lose sleep over it, so I don't try anymore. I envy those who can do it.

Maybe what you think is real life right now is nothing but a lucid dream.

[Neo] Whoa. [/Neo]

During this dream I even thought of that "you ever have this feeling where you're not sure if you're awake or still dreaming?" line from the Matrix.

I'm dead serious. 😛

It has happened a few times to me.

Only once was I able to control the dream. That was pretty cool.

I once had a dream ... that I was dreaming about waking up ... and then I woke up from the dream, to wake up ... but I was still in the dream ... so I hadn't really woken up yet.

It was confusing.

Do you know what really suprised me?

If the dream were only a little more accurate I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between dreaming and reality.

*shudder* 😉

save for the part about not being able to control your actions : P

i always wanted to learn how to lucid dream, I know there's books out there, but I figure it's a faux 'science' sort of thing.

it'd be cool though to just have sex dreams left and right ;D

Same here. I've also dreamt that I know I'm dreaming, but I can't control my actions.

There have also been times when I say, "wake up, fvcker, you're dreaming," but I can't open my eyes. It's seriously freaky.

Ever gotten stuck in a dream loop?

Once I woke up at least 5 times before I really woke up. This was when I was really young. I was terrified. I thought I'd been trapped asleep forever 🙁

Now *that's* what I'd call a sticky situation :Q

its not funny dude

here's a trick. when you think you are dreaming, look at your hands, they will appear blurry or just not be right, ie, you will have 3 fingers on the left hand and 4 fingers on the right. once you see that it would hit you that you are assleep.

when this happened to me, i had total control of my dream. i knew i was dreaming and that there would be no consiquences. first thing i did was i saw a group of ppl jogging by a gas stattion, i was in the gas station, and i went up to one and hit him in the face. he continued on jogging. then i went to a girls car where she was pumping gas, i took her to the back seat and had sex with her. i was about to come, but didn't want to because i wanted to have sex with a diff chick. so i went to a different car, girl was in it, and we had sex again.

then i had a false awakening, that i was driving on the freeway. then i woke up for real.
