I'm still so pumped about it I had to post here.
(Quick! Something exciting happened! Tell ATOT!)
I've only played like 3 gigs in my life, so this was still new and exciting, plus it's the first for my current band and the first where i'm the singer along with guitar duty. Anyway, my band plays indie rock/emo stuff, and we were playing at this house party with 4 heavy metal bands. the backyard was filled with all these hardcore looking people (chains, huge ear studs, scowls on their faces), so my band was freaking because we play all this super-soft stuff in with the rocking parts.
but as it happened, we just turned up the energy (and the marshall stack) and ended up rocking the socks off the metal bands. they mostly stood there and stared at their toes the whole time they played, but we were a destruction machine! i fell down twice (kept playing of course), sliced up my right hand and bled all over my guitars, smashed a mic into my bassist's head hard enough to leave a welt with the mic pattern on his forehead, and finished the last song by picking up my mic stand and attacking the crowd with it, smacking a giant scary-looking black dude. the black dude later told me he thought we rocked, and we had lots of people tell us we rocked them, so success was ours.
just goes to show you that a crazy drummer, lots of conviction, and tons of energy will more than make up for a lack of Boss Metal Zone pedals and black clothes.
so anyway, thanks for letting me gloat, guys.
