After doing more research it seems like the Radeon 3870 from Sapphire is the best graphics card currently supported by OSX86. However, they offer 4 (at least on newegg) w/ anywhere from 512MB to 1GB of RAM and the RAM is a mix of DDR3 and DDR4. So how do I know which will work? Anyone care to weigh in on this?

Thanks.

oh, didn't realize that. Maybe I'll go with the 8800GT or the 9800GTX...

I had my evga 8800gt 512mb working perfect and I am pretty sure they all work perfect regardless of brand. Sold it for 150 and bought a stupid 4850 which isnt supported :(.

So I figure you are trying to game in vista and play with mac? I think the 8800gt ang 9800gtx are your best bet. Though there is hope for the 4850/4870 in the upcoming patch 10.5.5. But Right now with the beta versions they are not working...

Thanks. The 8800GTX and GTS seem to be a good sweet spot performance wise.

I will buy one tonight when I get home. I'd like to get this running this weekend, but if I order the card tonight Im gonna have to wait a few days. What if i use the 8600GT I have, install OSX then swap cards later. Will that work or do I need a clean install?

It'll work, just install the correct driver before rebooting to install the card.
