Hackintosh Motherboard

As a continuation of my project to put a hackintosh inside a G5 case, I need to find a motherboard that has 4 card slots. Can anyone suggest a board or two that only has 4 slots (or fewer I guess)? Preferably something that supports i5/i7?

You'd be looking for a Micro-ATX board. There's only a handful of X58 boards if you're going that way (better compatibility), otherwise there's a bigger selection of P55 boards.

Most X58 boards should be fine, as this is the chipset used in the Mac Pro. From experience, I can tell you that the Asus boards require a bit more work though; they have a performance quirk where the non-boot drives perform very slowly when you're in AHCI mode.

I haven't checked the P55 boards.

thanks. I'll keep searching. I suppose I can live without i7 support if need be. There is a good thread up here right now that has a few good mATX suggestions.

Bear in mind that there are 2 kinds of i7, there are the original 3 i7s, that use skt 1366 and x58 chipsets and then there are the 2 new Lynnfield i7s (that debuted with the sole i5) that use skt 1156 and the p55 or g51 chipsets.

Of all those, the best bang for the buck is the skt 1156 Core i7 860, it is about $260, you can get cheaper mobos for it, has HT and turbo mode so it really is a great deal compared to the 920.
