Hackintosh DS3L

Are there any solid guides on how to get Snow Leopard working on the DS3L, I mean, this was a popular board back in the day wasn't it? But I can only find guides about the UD3P mainly.

Also, if there is a way to get it to dual boot with Windows on a single drive, that would be better. If not, then I can find a way to make it work, but I would like to retire my SATA I drive.

by back in the day you mean a year ago? Then yep. Lots of info posted on the thread about ds3l. Blackosx guides on insanelymac work great. And he gives directions for dual boot too.

Awesome, thank you. Seeing as how windows 7 just decided to s**t the bed this morning and I will probably have to reformat, I figured, why not kill 2 birds with one stone?

And I don't care about sleep as my desktop never does.

fwiw I'm shooting for a Halloween release for my beta Snow kit. Nearly everything is finalized, still has a couple minor quirks, but it's getting very usable/very easy!

I'm with ya here. I doomed my Vista x64 install from the start by putting it on a 34GB Raptor. The speed is nice, but there's simply not enough space and there is constant activity on my hard drive. It's so bad that in the middle of games (NBA 2k10, DOD:S) it'd freeze up a second or two.

Could Snow Leopard be installed onto the 34GB Raptor reliably? If so, I'll do that once Kaido's guide comes out, and reinstall Vista x64 onto a larger, but slower 500GB HD.

btw: Kaido, what are the couple minor quirks you mention?

two links two guides for one outcome lol

gotta make a dsdt which it outlines and works.

btw i followed that guide with p35 ds3l and it runs almost perfect. Missing auto sleep but thats pretty much it.

You might check [do some googling]. Autosleep might be a bug with your DVD drive, not OSX. I've had similar issues with mine (Samsung/TSST drive). Apparently Sonys are the best for not doing that sort of thing.

Ooh, this thread is quite timely. I'd like to be able to use my copy of SL for more than a drink coaster.😀

Just random stuff - Finder crashing, Safari crashing, the Snow Leopard guest bug glitch, etc. It's not terrible, just...quirky 🙂

Alright, well I am going to give this all a whirl this weekend. Putting Windows 7 and 10.6 onto the same drive in my hackintosh. Buys OS X some more space, and lets me ditch my oldest, slowest hard drive.

Ok, didn't notice before that the guide linked is for the EP45, I have the P35. Oh well

I've got the EP35-DS3L (which as far as I know is almost identical to the P35) and I haven't noticed any definitive guides, so I'll be waiting for Kaido/ws12 🙂

Just saw in the other other thread... it's official, Halloween is the date for THE guide 🙂

So one more week or so.
