Hackintosh and SATA port choices

Gigabyte boards often have two sets of SATA ports, one using the Gigabyte controller and one using the Intel controller. Can someone advise on the best use of them, especially concerning an OSX software RAID setup? I'd like to create a RAID 0+1 and am scratching my head as to the best use of these ports, or problems of one way over another.

Depends on the controllers and if they are supported. Some have two different sets of SATA controllers. Sometimes the second smaller set isn't supported or isn't fully supported. Usually the primary set is the one that is best to boot from.

Makes sense. I've seen Gigabyte boards as the go to choice but no mention of the dual SATA options/recommended configs. I'll keep digging but will start the build with the Intel ICH ports.
