Yup, both coaxial and toslink work, and 5.1 out works (make sure you set it in the software app you're using).

Overclocking worked! Took my 2.66 GHz Q9400 to 3.36 GHz with a minimal voltage boost! Very pleased so far.

You don't need to overclock DDR2. DDR2-800 is in sync with a 1600mhz FSB.

Just picked up a q8200 for a sweet $100 at microcenter. Definitely going hackintosh. Processor is one of the new 45nm, with a 1333mhz fsb.

Say I wanted a more powerful graphics card for Windows. Could I put a GTX260 in the 16x Slot-1 for Windows only and an ATI 2600 (or other cheap CI/QE supported card) in the 8x Slot-2 for OS X only?

Any recipes for a cheap hackintosh mini?
After the success of my tower build, I'm looking to put together something that can handle basic browsing, word processing, Netflix, Hulu, etc. This will be attached to an LCD TV in our kitchen and take the place of the broken-screen G4/1.25 AluBook that is in there now (that cannot handle Hulu or HD Youtube at all).
Since Mac Minis can be had for the $400's now (older C2D models), I'd like to see if I can put something together for $250 or less. The last time I asked this, the issue of the new Ion boards came up. Any new progress on this front? Any new info in general?
Thanks.

Hey,
I am new here.
Just put together my box, it's based on a DS3L and a Q6660. I set up the BIOS according to your guide and the BIOS Version is 8f.
Now, I own a MacBook Po. I used Carbon Copy Cloner and cloned the HD of it to a new SATA Harddrive, afterwards I installed the Soup Kit on this HD.
After installing the machine to the wannabe Hackint0sh and booting up, I get an Error the like of "No HPETs available..." and it's coming from
\n"@/SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement-59.0.1/pmThread.c:149
the extension is com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement(59.0.1)
I can't install from DVD because I only have an IDE Optical Drive 🙁
Any clues?
Great package btw 🙂

I have successfully installed on a DVDless system using a USB DVD drive. Just have to remember to make sure it will boot from the USB drive. HTH
