What're the chances that someone will be able to hack the X-Box 360 to use either OSX or linux?

Linux- Probably
OS X- Probably not (95% sure it won't happen, at least a version that you'd actually want to use)
Windows- Nope

My guess is that xbox 360 will be much tighter than the original in terms of security. Microsoft has lately been cracking down on modders pretty hard, so I assume they will try to prevent that with the 360.

Just because it's harder doesn't mean it won't be done, though. I suppose that supporting OSX on the 360 would require some work because of specialized hardware, but if hackers want it, they will eventually get it.

The above post is right though, Linux support will show up way before anything else. OSX is much less likely to appear.

I think microsoft should go the other way totaly, sell a Windows OS compatible for the X360,this way they make even more profits. ;)

Actually, Microsoft has been easing up on the modding community over the past 6 months & you can even find "modded Xbox"es when you search Ebay now. Why is this wierd? Well about 6+ months ago if you found an Xbox with modded anywhere in the description you could be sure Ebay was going to remove it...obviously at Microsoft's request.

With that being said, it is very possible that Microsoft figured out that the only people buying Xboxes other than Halo fans were Xbox modders. It's possible that they will make it tougher to mod, but they would only be hurting themselves by spending time & money worrying about this stuff while Sony is building a world beater on the other side of the Pacific.

Not without an emulator. Because the XBox 360 has a PPC chip, there is the thought of OS X running on it, but it won't because of the specialised hardware, and because OS X only works on the north-south chipset, which MS wouldn't be using in the XBox. I have no doubt that Linux will run on it though (I've even seen Linux running on an iPod of all things!)
