Hacking Chipotle for more food

lol @ "hacking"

I already ask for both beans because they're good, not because I'm trying to get more food. Everything else is just stupid. I've never had an issue with quantity. I agree that the burrito bowl gives you more, but that's common knowlege. I don't WANT more food than a burrito, and I sure as shit don't want a tortilla on the side so I can wrap it myself. Why would I go to a restaurant if there's still some assembly required?

tortilla on the side is awesome because you can rip pieces off of it and then fill it with a fork full of the bowl, and make like 20 mini tacos.

spanish people eat tortilla with basically every meal they eat in this fashion, ripping pieces off and just eating it with bites of the meat/rice. you can even "pick up the food" with the tortilla pieces you rip off and toss it all in your mouth. it's awesome.

you've never gotten a bowl at chipotle and chips, and scooped up food with your chip and stick it in your mouth? same principle but with a soft tortilla instead of the hard tortilla chip.

I almost always do a half sofritas + half meat of some sort just cause I like the flavor. Always skip the beans.. rice + fajita veggies all the way. Always a bowl.

What's messed up is when I go with my fiancee. They always always give her less chicken than whatever I'd get from one scoop. I don't know if it is cause she's tiny, but she always has to ask for a little more chicken.

We'd need pics to know for sure.

hell, it's essentially having bread/toast with your meal

Has anyone here ever tasted real authentic Mexican food in Mexico or cooked by Mexicans in USA?

If so, then why would you settle for that garbage they make in the fast food chain restaurants?

i have had both plenty of times while in mexico and in high end mexican restaurants in the usa.

they both taste good.

i know this is a tough concept for 99% of people on these forums to grasp, but it is actually possible to like 2 different things! like, you are allowed to like apple and android, sony and microsoft, chipotle and other mexican food.

you don't have to pick 1 or the other.

This.

My Dad lived in Mexico for my entire youth and I used to visit and have real food there, so yes, I know the difference. Also please take into account that I live in Vancouver which has very little in the way of alternatives for Mexican food. All of that said, I still like Chipotle.

If you're paying $7+ for what is little more than a tortilla filled with rice and beans scamming extra rice and beans with a smile doesn't make you a genius. You're still overpaying for really really really cheap ingredients.

Hence the tip to ask for half and half to get more protein. Pay attention.

For the free tortilla on the side thing:

y'all saying to get a bowl and then also a tortilla or get a burrito and an extra tortilla on the side?

I always get the chicken bowl, black beans, white rice, the corn salsa and reg salsa, either 3 soft taco shells or 1-2 burrito shells, they don't care, and sour cream, no regular cheese or lettuce. Lasts 2 meals.

I'd actually rather go to a fast food Mexican chain than Chipotle because the food is much better and cheaper ala Del Taco which is a regional Mexican fast food chain here.

lol del taco is the west coast version of taco bell. not even in the same league as chipotle. it's as "mexican" as taco bell is.

and i'm not saying it's bad either. there are times i prefer to have taco bell over chipotle myself. they both own.

Plenty around me. I eat at both. I just don't pretend that chipotle is 'mexican'

Our version of pizza is not what Italians eat in Italy, but it's still good.

Our version of Chinese food is different from what is served in China, but it's still good.

Food is often changed to fit local tastes around the world.

taco bell is from california, so it is the west coast version of taco bell.

Chipotle is known for its generous portions and affordable cuisine.

Not at the ones in NYC.

$12 gets you:
- fountain drink
- buritto bowl
- bag of chips

The drink,.. yeah, free refills, that's great.

The bowl: a 3 quarter's of a scoop of meat and anything more costs extra. Sure, extra of anything else is 'free', but that shit is just fluff.

The bag of chips: it was cut in half recently. You get 1/2 the number of chips you use to. Which is OK, since it's just fluff,.. but the price hasn't dropped.

Fuck Chipolte NYC.

So many fast food restaurants are so much better outside of NYC, it's just insane. Like Panda Express. Don't eat any in NYC, because they are total crap.

Went with the GF and got burritos, a margarita and a Negra Modelo in an NYC Chipotle a few months ago and it was fucking awesome. Yeah.. 30 bucks but whatever... it was fun. Didn't seem like less food than my normal jersey spots.

You should check out Dos Toros on the upper east side... chipotle style but more local tasting and their habanero hot sauce it AMAZING.

Apparently even the mexicans think it is ok since I always see them at chipotle regularly.

And maybe, just maybe, a lot of people simply like the americanized versions? Just because something isn't "authentic" doesn't mean it is bad.

NYC and horrendously overpriced are totally expected. They probably couldn't afford to even be there if they were normal priced lol. Big expensive cities suck so bad on so many levels, I will never understand the attraction of them.
