as you may know, certain (if not all) linksys routers use open source operating systems and as such many have used this knowledge to release their own OS's for it. Some of them have pretty cool features... I am getting ready to replace my home linksys router with an embedded computing router that I'm slapping together so I thought I'd try experimenting with it. has anyone used any of these before? thanks

I am running the last free version of the sveasoft firmware on my linksys g router and it's great. They added QoS (have to do it on the command line in this version), a fully functioning VPN client that is compatible with WinXP's client, and a ton of other very useful stuff. It's unfortunate that things turned out the way they did with the sveasoft firmware imho.

Maybe he means the fact they charge for it now (I think that's what their site said).

oh ...bTW..anyone have any screenshots of the hacked interface?

I can deal with CLI for cisco routers at school, but I honestly do NOT feel like writing access lists for all my sh!t......it took me long enough just to understand wild card masks.....

I'm using the 2nd newest paid version of the sveasoft firmware (pre 8 methinks). I'm very happy w/ it. It's taken care of several problems I've had on my lan including qos for my packet8 line and some dhcp probs i had w/ my replays.

As far as the interface goes, just imagine the standard linksys web based admin interface. It's the same, just w/ more options. Really easy to work with. Of course, you can telnet or ssh into the router as well and config it via CL if you like.
