HA ha! Jackson new Greatest Hits CD a FLOP!

Heheh....yeah, he's going to need a new line of work. He was not guilty, but I don't see him getting over that reputation anytime soon. Plus, he looks like a side show freak now instead of a sex symbol, and that was half of his career.

Meh. So now he has to live like a normal person. Boo hoo.

I no sympathy for people that have insane fortunes and then piss them all away.

I bet in the long run it'll be a huge seller. It's not like there is new stuff on there that people didn't have on other albums or something.

Ouch.

Sounds like he's probably going to go bust, although that seems crazy... he should make enough off the royalties of previous songs to live like a king.

Yes. I think one within the last 2 years where he did some appearances in the UK to sell it, and IIRC it charted. If this is like the others in the "Essential" series, it's a barebones greatest hits with cheap-looking packaging that will retail for a few dollars less than most of the other stuff in the store, has little or no promotional campaign behind it, and no new song(s) to entice longtime fans to buy. Everybody that wants his biggest songs already has had them for years, I'm not sure that this is a great surprise.

Now if he put out a new album and it only sold 8000 copies, that would be an embarrassment.

One of my coworkers has one of those "Demotivators" calendars. It's pretty funny, in addition to having one of the Demotivators posters, there's tidbits throughout the month. One of the ones for this month is "Aerosmith releases 7th greatest hits album"

Exactly... this isn't his first greatest hits album, so it's not like people have to rush to the stores to buy it. Over time, it'll sell nicely.

He still owns the rights to the Beatles card catalogue. I don't see him going broke anytime soon.

Actually he sold part of them for money to pay down other bills. And right now he owes much more then he has in value. So even if he sold them and all his other goods, he still have as much money as Mike Tyson has now.

Yeah, I was just going to mention that. His share is worth around $300 million or something. Plus I heard he was possibly working out a deal with Steve Wynn to do shows at Wynn's new hotel and casino, like Wayne Newton does I would assume. Even if he didn't do that, he could go tour overseas. He may be viewed as a sideshow freak here, but people overseas still faint at his concerts and lose control of themselves (like they used to do here in the 80's and early 90's).

If Sony didn't already bought all the rights to the albumes

man his old music was so amazing.

it's still hard for me to wrap my head around what he's become today. when i was younger, his music was pretty much my only taste of english music...and i really enjoyed the songs like 'Thriller', 'Beat it', 'Bad', etc...

he was the universal musician and pretty much EVERYONE around the world had heard of him! From the smallest towns in India to the rural cities of Africa...everyone knew who Micheal Jackson was...that's a pretty big achievement in the early 80s when information didn't travel as fast as it does now.

and its just sad he threw all that away.
