My 7 year old H80 is currently serving up cooling for my 2500k o/c rig that was built circa 2011. Will I be able to use this on my upcoming z390/Gen 9 upgrade?

I'm not sure what the life expectancy is for an AIO, but I'd imagine a 7 year run is pretty good. The coolant gets old, the gaskets/rubber age, so like I mentioned in your PSU thread, I'd personally buy a new one to put on my new expensive components.

Sounds like sage advise. I do not want to spend foolishly, if these things last forever, but certainly don't want to risk catastrophic failure if that is a real concern. Thanks!

AIO's do not last forever.
They degrade at about the 2yr mark when the coolant inside starts evaping out.
You will lose about 10-15% of the original coolant as noted in Gamers Nexus.

Also the cpu pump has way passed its intended MTBF. Honestly, i wouldnt trust a made in China pump beyond MTBF, especially one by asetek.

Honestly you had a very good run with your H80, i would however look at getting a new one tho.

Recommendations on a replacement? I am determined to get 5.5 Ghz on all 8 cores of the i7 9700. Not going to do LN though...

A newer version of the unit is fine.
I believe the H80 underwent 6 revisions since its launch, each a bit better then the predecessor.

Or if your tired of LCS, a noctua tower sink is also a good choice.

Anandtech did a review recently of a new bigger AIO Corsair unit here:

https://www.anandtech.com/show/13219/the-corsair-h150i-pro-rgb-aio-cooler-review

It is quieter than smaller units, but the cooling is pretty much in line with the smaller units:

Despite its monstrous appearance, the H150i Pro RGB is not strictly aimed towards overclockers and advanced enthusiasts but is designed to be simple to install and to offer very low operating noise levels

How do you feel about the CLC 240? The price is right. RGB doesn't matter much to me.
