H70 Backplate - Same as H50?

Quick question... can anyone tell me if the socket 1156 backplate used with the H70 is the same as the one used with the H50?

I'm looking into taking out an H50 and replacing it with the H70 and would be nice not to have to take the motherboard out if this is the case. The H50 would then go into a 775 system

Thanks

Thanks. I guess that goes for the retention bracket itself as well? For that to work, I'd assume the clips on both the H70 and H50 are the same height.

Quote from Kyle's review at [H]ardForum

"As for the H70 water block/pump install, it was as simple as the H50. Actually it was simpler since it uses the exact same mounting system. I did not even have to unscrew the retention bracket fully. I just loosened it up and switched in the H70 after thoroughly cleaning the processor mating surface. "

It makes sense, no new costs involved with coming up with a new or modified bracket for their new product and more enticement for existing H50 users to upgrade without having to remove their motherboards.

this is great to know. instead of getting a new case and doing a custom loop. i may just upgrade my h50 to a h70
