H60 alt fans

For any who care (and don't mind the expense) I just swapped the Gentle Typhoon AP-15s I had in a push-pull on my H60 for some Noiseblockers. The difference was immediately noticed when I powered back up and it looks like things are only running a couple degrees warmer at idle. I run my 2500K with an OC to only 4GHz, but just haven't needed more.

Went from an idle of about 29C to 31-32C and today is a little warmer in my place. At load it was looking about 4-5 degrees higher, from 54-55 to 58-59.

For me, it's been a worthy swap, so I figured I'd share.

Oh yeah

I swapped the stock corsair fans on my H100 for push/pull config with noiseblocker's and just like you said, the noise difference is like night and day and the trade-off in cooling is not all that much.

BTW, which noiseblocker fans did you go with?

I went for the Noiseblocker NB-Multiframe M12-PS.

Whew! $30 for a single fan? I'll stick to slightly noiser fans, thank you.

LOL, true, but from my perspective I could either have my $2000 rig annoy me with 60 dB fan noise or I could spend $120 on four noiseblockers and have my $2120 rig be whisper quiet (42 dB).

I went with the PL-2s, found here: NB-Blacknoise Silent Pro 120mm

And I'll be trying the XLP (PWM 1k-2k rpms) on another build I'm setting up today. Those should be even quieter than what I've got at idle and only nominally louder at load based on how smoothly these seem to work.

So you guys are saying the GT's are too noisy? I thought they were really quiet and one of the best fans to get

I did some research and chose two Akasa Apache Black fans for mine.

Yes the stock fan was very loud and didn't seem to be controlled right on my Asus board.

The new fans are almost silent and run most of the time at 900 rpm and ide at 30c. They are not rated quite as high in air movement as Corsair recommends but work great and still basically inaudible at 1200rpm My system stays cool at all times OC to 4.4

I did choose a NoiseBlocker 140mm fan for my exhaust up top as it was highly recommended for a horizontal orientation. Wow a beautiful fan and likewise runs very quiet though it has a ticking noise. It's only audible though when I put my ear up to the case so no big deal.
