Is flavored water, or carbonated water bad for you? I have a bunch of guys (who are obese) here at work telling me that I shouldn't drink flavored water or carbonated water because it's not good for you and lacks the benifits of regular tap water or bottled water.
But because the water I drink is flavored, I drink more of it. Up to 5 or 6 bottles a day. Where as I would drink less normal tap water if it was not flavored.
Am I an idiot for believing that it's just as good for you?
The water has no calories, no carbs. Nothing. It's just flavored water.

It's perfectly fine. It may not have the chlorine that tap has, but you get that with toothpaste anyway. I don't see anything wrong with it, unless they're talking about artificial flavoring?

Flavoured water is just that....flavoured which contains flavourings, colourings (sometimes), and sometimes presevatives.

These are all going to be chemicals (albeit in small doses)., but then again so does tap water (floride, etc).

Hell it's a lot better than drinking carbonated drinks (sugars, sweeteners, bad teeth, etc).

You made a point about listening (or not) to the peeps woh you mention as Obese - I wonder how knowledgable they are about nutritional information.

Carbonated water isn't as good for you as plain, non-carbonated water. I try to stay away personally.

If you are thinking about hydration, no there is no difference. Basically, you will be just as hydrated by drinking a glass of water as you do by drinking a glass of any other water based beverage. Your body pulls most of the water out right away, leaving the other stuff in your stomach with the food. So there is no difference how you consume the water. Note: some drinks have lots of caffeine and that causes a very mild increase in urination so you might have to drink a few percent more if you drink caffeine drinks for the same hydration.

If you are discussing other effects, then maybe. Tap water has impurities. It has some minerals and flouride added. Bottled drinks may or may not be purified first. Thus maybe you'll need to use flouride toothpaste to make sure your teeth stay fine. As for the minute minerals, you should get that thorough your diet.

I'd rather have it called pop than flavored water...
This is flavored water. It most certainly is NOT pop, soda, or soda pop (whatever term you use). There are many other brands of water with a touch of natural or artificial flavorings.
