H E L P.....My laptop Locks up

Recently my old Inspiron laptop started to lock up and it won't even turn off. I have to unplug the power cord and remove the battery to turn it off. after restart it will work for another 30 minutes or so before it lock-up again. I have also noticed that the small fan on the back is doesn't turn on anymore. I wonder if the problem is related to overheating.

Use this nifty little ap to monitor the temperatures and post the numbers here. Also, specifications of the laptop will also help if you want relevant answers.
