Some benchmarks done of the campaign and comparisons of different AA levels.

The translation to english was a bit broken, but from what I understood you get a 30% increase in performance at the same image quality in DX11 over DX10? 😱 Also, cards from 8800GT to GTX285 had very poor performance and sort of micro-stuttering in DX10.

Looks like DX11 is finally coming into its own. Looking forward to next couple generations of even more capable DX11 cards.
 
jesus this thing is slaughtering single card setups. cant wait to see some sli/crossfire numbers.

Yeah the 1080P Maxed out settings are crushing every single card out there. I've read some information where Dice has said the single player campaign is more graphically intensive than the multiplayer was.

I've read this before though about other games and it was not really the case 😀

New Nvidia drivers are looking good, time for AMD to get their BF3 drivers out. Are they expected sometime soon?

Or are the Preview 3 drivers the ones for BF3?

Is it just me or does this game look very boring?! I stopped watching after 4 min. Then went back to watch from 4:16 to 5:15 (the guy runs for 1 min and there is literally no action on the map). There is no fast paced action whatsoever. You have to run/ fly/ drive for 30 seconds to 1 min just to find a fire fight with 1 person. And if that person is hiding/in prone position and kills you, then you have to spend another half a minute+ to find action again? 5 hours of "battlefield like action" with miles of empty landscape? Maybe this particular map is just blah but so far this BF game just doesn't look like fun to play unless you want to spend 3-4 hours at a time playing it per session, with a sniper rifle. Or maybe if these maps had 128 players on them....

ULTRA includes both 4xMSAA and MLAA/FXAA, it's overkill and provides little image quality improvements.

Using 4xMSAA on a deferred rendering engine = huge performance hit. It will crush anything, some features you are not meant to use because it is so inefficient.

They've added MLAA and FXAA for a reason, use that instead and the game runs a lot better on single cards.

Edit: No.. did they really force HQ AF through AMD's driver and not the same for NV?

Of course its slow at full detail 1080p, shouldn't be surprising. Its the same story with crysis 2 and metro 2033. I'm sure everyone will find a good middle point just as we did with those other games.

From what I can see, they are using semicolons to separate the details, so it goes OS; driver versions; IQ settings. I could be wrong though, which would be a very weird way of benchmarking if they did it for AMD only...

Well, in metro, turning off DoF greatly improved performance for minimal visual loss.

In BF3, it looks to me like 4xMSAA AND post AA actually lowers image quality, textures look more blurred. Post AA alone does a fine job in removing most jagged edges.

For Nvidia users' sake, I hope Nvidia is at full work to fix that issue through the drivers...I find it odd though that we didn't hear reports about those issues during the Beta

And it's nice to see DX11 being used for performance improvement as well rather than just pushing extra, demanding effects...Even DX10.1 could provide a nice improvement over DX10 in those games that supported it

Hmm so will be I be able to comfortably play this game with 6970s in crossfire at 1080p @ 120hz ultra with most of the fancy shit turned off? Or am I looking at another upgrade :/

Dude. There's not a game that 6970 crossfire doesn't destroy, at least on my xfire rig. It plays metro 2033 at full detail insanely fast.

That being said, I don't think drivers support crossfire yet, and I believe SLI isn't supported in nvidias drivers either. I could be wrong though, I haven't checked for radeon drivers in the past week or so.

Be sure to check AMD's website for an updated application CAP profile release for BF3 xfire support.... that is what you want to ensure that xfire is working.

CAP 3 was out on 10/19/11. "New profiles added to this release: - Battlefield 3 – Provides great CrossFire scaling and resolves flickering/corruption issues when running in CrossFire mode"

I guess we will see....
 
Just had a closer read of the PCGameshardware bench, they ran all cards through 20s of the most intense scene in SP. All the cards have average very close to minimum fps. This bench is really a "worst case minimum fps" test... not indicative at all with average performance. However, it does show most cards can handle it and stay around 30 fps. Which is pretty dang good.

Gtx560 ti 1GB outperforms 6950 2GB when 4xAA is enabled and resolution is increased. Which doesn't make sense considering everyone here says the game uses over 1GB VRAM at those settings. Fake benchmark?
 
Thats everyone with a AMD 2gb card. Me (and some others) said 2 weeks ago that you do not need more than 1gb of memory.

Either way, GTX560 or HD6950, to max this game fully out, we'll want next generation 28nm family. The difference in performance between these 2 cards isn't going to make the game run at 50-60 fps ! 😀
