[H]ardOCP Geforce 7900 "preview" up

I would like some direct 7800GT vs. 7900GT comparisons. Too bad I didn't wait like 4 weeks on my videocard purchase 🙁 Oh well.

They do provide a 7900 GT vs. 7800 GT vs. X1800 XL that at least tells you the difference in playable settings with each 🙂

 
The 7900GT is basically a 7800GTX with a slight clock boost. Check reviews of the 7800GT vs 7800GTX to see what the performance dif will be. Of course I doubt you'll be able to find anyone selling a 7900GT clocked lower than 500 mhz though.
 
I love Hardocp's reviews but they need to be complimented by a standard benchmarking to really understand what a the video card can do, before making any judgement I'll wait for a more usual review.

Its funny I find the XT winning BF2, FEAR and SC in every other reviews .. typical Hardocp. 😀

The fight is really to damn close in my opinion, I would love to see people reviewing the OC models since that will be a majority of their sales. Also Anyone know if some one has done an OC version of the XTX yet?
 
Although the ATI's X1 series using 6.3, we have to point out that NV is using beta drivers. Hmm, where are those FW 85 drivers.. 🙁
 
I'm planning on getting a 2407 when they're finally available so based on this article, looks like I might need some 7900 GTX SLI action too!!!

Shame about the texture shimmering though.

You might want to look at other articles before making a decision on what to buy. The HardOCP and Anandtech reviews are piss poor.
 
I have a 2405fpw with a x1900xtx. For BF2, CS:S, FEAR, Far Cry and Doom3, this card kicks ass at 1920x1200. Don't put too much stock into HardOcp's reviews.

The 7900GT in Sli (overclock each card first) would be the best dual GPU solution, from a price/peformance perspective.
 
Yeah, you're right guys. I'm just starting to spec out my new system and won't be putting it together until May at the earliest so plenty of time to weigh up my options.

Can't help but get excited when new cards appear though 😛

That's looking like the fastest option on the planet. Too bad nForce 5 won't be out till June.
