Link - Ubisoft just announced via Twitter (hey, who says that is useless?) that the the PS3 H.A.W.X. demo will be delayed until 2/26 due to an unexpected issue at the last moment.

Bummer.

I beleive tom clancy hasn't written any of his own books since the 1980's. He has people write for him now, his name has become like a franchise.

This is, of course, completely untrue. The last book he wrote was Teeth of the Tiger, in 2003. Now, if you were to say he hasn't written a good book since the 1990's, I'd mostly agree.

I think he's just confused (wrong) about books vs. games. Tom Clancy actually did sell the rights to his name to Ubisoft for use in whatever projects they wanted.

He's still writing, though. I've never read any of it.

UBISoft, the same people who published Lock On: Modern Air Combat and Blazing Angles. 'Nuff said. Two vary buggy games.

This game is pure trash. I don't think the developers did any research on airplanes, flying or what makes flying fun. Who's brilliant idea was it to add the flight mode with an external camera that not only isn't user controllable, but doesn't follow your airplane. Garbage.

There are two different camera modes while flying your plane. One in a chase cam view and the other in the that funky way off camera. You double-tap LT or RT on the 360 to change the view.

I do agree that the non-chase camera sucks. I did have fun playing the demo on the 360 while using the chase camera though.

I understand that. Why put that into a flight game? The majority of the first mission is flying that way. It's as if the developers performed zero research on what a combat flying game is about and what makes it fun. Imagine playing an FPS that way. Pure fucking trash.

The first mission is nothing but a training mission. Play the second mission without that camera view.

Tom Clancy's School Shoot 'Em Up?
Tom Clancy's I Can Count to Three?
Tom Clancy's Race Car Fast?
Tom Clancy's Tentacle Love Simulator?

I just played through the first demo mission this weekend, and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.

And there's nothing Tom Clancy could do about it ;)

I played it for about 30 minutes this past weekend, and rather enjoyed it. Will be trying to rent it at some point.

I played the demo this weekend and really enjoyed it. I'll probably pick it up when I can get it used for < $30

Mugs, I got it new for $45 from Ebay for the 360, you should be able to find it for $30-35 soon.

What do you think about R/C flying? The third-person cinematic camera feels a whole hell of a lot like R/C flying. I found it fun and different.

Also, I don't know what demo YOU were playing, but in MY demo, the camera kept my aircraft on the screen at all times, even when it was focused on other aircraft or incoming missiles.

It's an arcade game, for chrissakes. Why are you bitching about a novelty camera mode (which you can choose to use or not use, but you're going to take more hits without it - sort of like not using slow-mo in FEAR) when you can survive like 50 missile hits and a hundred rounds from the cannons?
