Gym rates.....

For those of you who have a membership at a gym, what kind of rates do you pay? Im trying to get rates, and trying to weigh the pros and cons of going to a gym chain or an independant smaller gym. Id like to sign up for a years membership if possible.

24 Hour Fitness. $600 for 3 years 20 a year after. I'm going into the 3rd year and its the best thing I have ever spent on.

26.xx at the YMCA per month (canadian). Includes gymnasium, track, lots of machines + pool

105.xx at my university for 12 months. Includes pool, 2 tracks, hockey arena, lots of machines, etc.

LA Fitness. 25 per month (corporate rate).

I've heard bad things about Bally's, they're pushy and have billing errors...

360 per year at my school's rec center. track, machines, pool, indoor basketball/volleyball, outdoor tennis, baseball/soccer fields plus a whole lot of eye candy.

Oops I posted an empty reply.

I was paying something like $35 a month for the first 3 years at Bally (3 year contract), but I rarely went the first two years. Now I pay about $13 a month and I go more often, and I am on a month-by-month basis, so it isn't so bad anymore. I guess they figure they made enough $$$ off me the first 3 years so they are letting me slide now, or the fact that I'm not locked in for an outrageously long time anymore has made them give me a more competetive rate.

30/mo @ 24h Fitness for all clubs.

And it's month-to-month which is great if I ever want to cancel and turn into a fatass.

£0

I'm at a national standard in my sport = free

It is usually £30 a month though. I also get free use at 2 other sites (free swimming at two different swim places, rock climbing place and 3 other gyms but they are all lacking). The £30 only refers to once place though and that doesn't have swimming or rock climbing.

24HR Fitness
$550 (or was it $599?) for first 3 years and $24/year to renew. Includes Sports and below.

we have a lifetime fitness that just opened by my house, and both ballys and powerhouse a few miles from here. Lifetime has the best facility in my area, as well as pricing.

-=bmacd=-

**YMCA actually has the best prices, but some of the equipment is a little older. We also have a JCC (Jewish Community Center) in the area, and although it's really nice, you have to be Jewish to become a member.

Wait... so you're saying it's $600 for 3 years, then $20 a year after that?

they run this all the time. it's a very good deal if you have the money to put down up front.

WOW. I would so do that in a heartbeat. Too bad there's no 24's in Canada.
