Gym Membership

Aimster

Lifer
I went to bally total fitness yesterday..

The guy said $39 down and $39 month for 3-month. Student plan.

I said okay I'll give you cash and he said I must have a credit card.

WTF?

Why do they need a credit card if I am paying it all right then and there?

Why the hell can't they just cancel my membership after 3 months and make me buy another one ..

I dont get them..

Reminds me of that Seinfield episode where it had to do with canceling the gym membership.

Because if you pay cash, they can't keep charging you after you cancel. Gyms are notorious for doing this after cancellations.

You should study their business model. They make their money off of people who sign contracts and then don't use the gym.

Have a nice day. 🙂

yes and if you don't write a letter to their HQ to cancel (which requires 4-6 week to process the cancellation notification), you'll be charged $99 a month.

i made that up, but i think that is what will happen.

yea, read the membership and contract carefully. Gyms, Bally's especially is known for ripping people off. They will lie and tell you whatever it takes to get you to sign.

Most of their contracts dont let you cancel after 3 days. So after that, you'll be stuck in their contract.

Are there any gyms that take the payment in cash?

I dont trust ballys with my credit card. I heard of horror stories when it comes to canceling. "computer is down, manger is not here only he can do it".
